Industrial Design
The project resulted in a ball shaped lamp with 72 moveable petals. Careful attention had to be paid to shadowing effects that could spoil the look of the lamp. We made use of renderings and careful placement of the light source to see the effects of various options. This can be seen in comparing a photograph and a rendering. A combination of engineering and artistic design made this project successful.
By adjusting either the top or bottom or both the lamp can set different moods and lighting effects. All parts were manufactured using prototyping methods and materials.
