Optimal energy – Joule Electric Paris and Geneva Show Cars

Various interior and exterior parts were prototyped for the Paris 2008 and Geneva 2010 show cars. A combination of 3D printing, CNC machining, fabrication and vacuum casting were used.

Prototyping
The customer supplied basic surface geometry of the lights and scans of the handmade car body. The geometry was manipulated in CAD to a final design and the parts machined from acrylic and aluminum.

The bulk of the work was done by hand including polishing, colouring and reflective surfaces. The interior parts were made in a combination of machining and 3D printing and finished by hand. The badges were machined from brass, finished by hand and then plated to maintain perfect undistorted surfaces.

These projects are typical of early stage prototyping where geometry is not fixed and mostly generated by hand. All parts needed to be fitted and finished by hand. Our model makers have excellent skills and can supply this work under very tight deadlines.
