Industrial Design The product uses both Infrared panels and heater elements to create a comfortable warm experience for the user. Air is drawn over the front of the IR elements and then into the product and over a heat-sink attached to the IR units on the inside in order to maximize heat transfer into the air both heating the air to blow onto the user and for cooling the product. A CFD analysis was essential for optimizing the air path and radiation and also to simulate the effect of the IR and hot air in the bathroom environment.
A simple uncluttered design was the result with vents that blend into the product. This was prototyped by fabricating the entire product by hand making use of composite for the large structures and fabricated aluminium and plastic parts for the internal workings.
