Industrial Design:
The customer had specific ideas as to how they would like to product to collapse and to this was added the basic industry requirements, including the carrying capacity, the stacking ability, transport requirements and low cost.
Mechanical Design: The design was based on basic pallet dimensions and the design iteration was balanced between weight of the unit, cost of the unit and the structural integrity of the unit. Extensive use of FEM was made to reduce weight, but still maintain the static loading abilities. Numerous prototypes were built and were field tested and also destructively tested to establish performance.
Prototyping: All the prototypes were manufactured in-house with our internal metal shop, including TIG welding.
Manufacturing: A complete detailed data pack was created and supplied to the customer's designated manufacturer for production.
