Freeplay - Ranger

The Freeplay Ranger is a self-powered FM/AM radio with solar panel. Freeplay make extensive use of fully working, fully cosmetic prototypes to generate sales before commissioning any tooling.

Prototyping
The Ranger prototypes were made using traditional methods of 3D printing masters, silicone tooling and vacuum casting. Transmission components and alternator were machined. The rubber texture parts were over-moulded onto the body in a secondary siliconee. The prototype is fully working, with an integration of mechanical and electronic assemblies.

Freeplay commissioned tooling from this project after successfully using the prototypes to generate sales.
