Chrome Cherry - Y-bike

These prototypes were used as marketing devises before the client commissioned production tooling. They also won 2nd runner up in South African toy of the year awards in 2007 and based on the prototype, the product only launched two months later.

Prototyping
The masters for the wheels, frame and fork were all milled on our CNC mill. These parts were hand finished in the model shop and then silicone tooled. The customer created all marketing material, including video and photography based on these fully working prototypes. The customer also managed to get confirmed orders from a large retailer based on the prototypes before commencing manufacture of steel moulds.
