Industrial Design
The brief was to update the customer's current design and to improve current production issues and specifically moulding issues. The design requirement is extremely rigorous in that very thin wall plastic sections are required to keep the product within size specification, but that it is an industrial electrical device with large cables and screw forces that attach to the product. This was achieved and production issues were dramatically improved by sticking rigorously to plastic design principles and prototyping numerous iterations before going to tooling.
Prototyping
Prototyping was done through vacuum casting and extensive testing of mechanical and electrical requirements.
