Industrial Design
The criteria for this product was that it needed to be rated IP68 water-proof, needed to withstand the loads of a car or truck driving over it, be tamper-proof, allow for wireless communication and house all the electronics in a small package that could easily be mounted in a number of different scenarios. Attention was paid to incorporating all the necessary features into an attractive design with options for screw- or cable-tie mount.
The entire product development, including FEA analysis, took place over less than one month.
A rapid prototype was 3D printed which facilitated water-proof and fit testing between the lid and base, as well as, the electronics components.
